어제 배터리 교체를 맡겼던 아이폰6와 아이폰X을 찾아왔다.

갑자기 찾아온 한파 때문에 걱정을 했지만, 어제보다 10분 늦은 09:50에 애플 가로수길에 도착했다.

내 앞에 7명이 있었고, 내가 8번째 대기였다. 어제보다 늦게 왔는데 순번은 빠르다.


어제와 다른점이 두가지가 있었는데,

하나는 애플 로고가 빨간색에서 하얀색으로 돌아왔다는 것.

다른 하나는 개장 전 줄이 둘로 바뀌었다는 것. 그리고 추가로 보안요원들이 많다.

줄이 왜 둘인가 생각해보니 오늘이 아이패드 6세대 발매일이다.



출근하는 길에 들른 거라 어제 맡긴 수리만 찾는 것이 목적.

찾으러 왔다고 하고 기다리라고 하고 5분 정도 기다리니 맡긴 아이폰이 돌아왔다.

아이폰 6는 액정필름이 붙어 있었는데, 맡길 때 뗄 수도 있다고 고지를 받았는데 붙은 채로 돌아왔다.

간단한 체크만 하고 결제를 하였다.


결제 및 영수증

아이폰X은 보증기간 내라 무료고, 아이폰6만 34,000원 냈다.

영수증을 이메일로 보내줘도 되겠냐고 물어봐서 환경 보호 차원에서 그러라라고 했다. 근데 재미있는 게 2쪽에  다음과 같은 문구가 있었다.

Applecare Protection Plan이 없었다면 이러한 수리에 ₩ 34,000의 요금이 청구되었을 것입니다.

뭔가 좀 이상한 문장이다.

이 영수증은 보증기간이 끝나서 받은 것이고 Applecare Protection Plan이랑은 전혀 무관하다.

오히려 Applecare Protection Plan이 있었다면 이러한 수리에 ₩ 10,000의 요금이 청구되었을 것입니다.

와 같은 문구가 더 애플케어를 가입을 시키는데 도움이 되지 않았을까 생각이 든다. 정말이지 뜬금없는 문구이다. 한마디로 사족.

수리를 접수하기 전에 coconutBattery 앱으로 미리 스냅샷을 찍어놓았다.

사이클 수는 0부터 시작하는 군.

작년 말, 12월 12일 아이폰X을 주문했다. 그동안 써왔던 아이폰6가 너무 느려졌기 때문이었다.

바꿀 때만 해도 기기의 에이징으로 인한 그러려니하고 바꾸었는데, 얼마 있어서 배터리게이트가 터졌다.

나의 분노 게이지 상승!


결국 여기 저기 소송 소식도 들리고 본인도 참여하긴 했지만 시간이 지나고 흐지부지 되는 것 같았다.

애플에서는 2017년 12월 28일 iPhone 배터리와 성능에 관하여 고객에게 전하는 메시지라는 제목으로 사과(라고 쓰고 오해라고 주장하는)와 애플의 조치를 공개했다.

조치는 다음과 같다.

  • Apple은 보증 외 iPhone 배터리 교체 비용을 원래 가격에서 $50에 상응하는 66,000원을 ($79에 상응하는 100,000원에서 $29에 상응하는 34,000원으로) 인하하기로 했습니다. 새로운 가격은 배터리 교체가 필요한 iPhone 6 이상 사용자를 대상으로 2018년 12월까지 전 세계 적용 예정입니다. 자세한 내용은 apple.com을 통해 곧 공개됩니다.

이후 iPhone 배터리 교체라는 페이지가 만들어졌고 주요 내용(가격)은 아래와 같다.

보면 대상에 iPhone X과 최신 휴대폰도 포함되어 있음을 알 수 있다.

여기까지는 인터넷에서 검색하면 찾을 수 있는 정보이고, 오늘 직접 경험한 것은 이제부터 아래에 기록한다.

iPhone 6는 지금은 쓰고 있지 않기 때문에 애플 가로수길 방문의 목적은 X의 배터리를 교체하는 것이 주요 목적이었다.

그것도 무.료.로! (아직 1년 보증기간 내이기 때문에, 위의 서비스 가격의 보증 적용되어 0원으로 계산된다.)


Genius Bar 작업 순서

- 오프라인 매장 방문 기준.

- 비예약 기준(나의 경우 예약이 불가능했다. 예약하고 왔냐는 질문도 있는 것으로 봐서 뭔가 채팅을 통해 하는 방법을 거쳐야 가능 한 것 같다.) Apple 지원이라는 앱을 이용하면 편리하다고 들었다.


- 매장 운영시간: 오전 10 ~ 오후 10시


출근길에 접수를 맡기고 다음날 출근길에 찾으러 가는 방법을 고려했다.

09:40분쯤 신사역에서 내려서 걸어가보니 아직 매장이 문을 열지 않았다. 이미 12명이 줄을 서 있어서 나는 13번째 입장.

12월 1일 세계 에이즈의 날을 기념해서 애플 로고는 빨간색이다. 뒤에 온 분이 빨간 사과 로고를 보고 크리스마스라서 빨갛다고 친구랑 이야기를 하던데 아니다.


10시 정각은 아니고 20~30초 부터 입장은 시작되었다. (뭐 어쨋든 10시)

줄을 서서 환영을 해준다.


서있던 줄은 고스란히 배터리 접수 줄로 바뀌었다. 안쪽의 스크린 쪽에서 서비스(지니어스 바?)가 이루어지는데 예약까지는 금방되었다. 이름과 전화번호를 알려주면 대기 큐에 들어간다. (오늘의 실수는 맡길 제품이 두 개라는 것을 이야기 하지 않았다는 것!)


문자가 두 번 오는데 세 번째 문자가 와야 본격적으로 서비스가 시작된다.

10:05 - 1차 접수

10:29 - 1차 접수 상담, 스페셜리스트(정비 의뢰 받는 사람)가 제품이 두 개인 것을 이 때 인지,

10:41 - 1차 접수 완료 후 2차 접수 대기

11:45 - 2차 접수 처리

제일 처음에는 내 앞에 12명 밖에 없었지만 10:32분은 이미 다수가 내 앞에 있었나본다.

1차 대기는 24분 걸렸는데, 2차는 1시간 4분 걸려서 처리가 된 것이다. (사실 처리가 더 늦어 질 수 있었는데, 처음 접수 받은 사람이 1시간 넘게 기다리는 것을 보고, 순번을 수동으로 조정해서 처리를 해주어서 그나마 빨리 처리한 것이다.)


Genius Bar에서 알게 된 점

1. 배터리가 80% 이상이어도 교환을 해준다. -> 사실!

 - 나무위키 배터리게이트 항목에는 배터리 재고가 없어 귀가하는 고객이 대다수 발생하였다고 되어 있는데, 오늘 물어보니 배터리 재고는 충분하다고 한다. 재고가 없는 경우에는 예약을 걸어주어 재방문을 하게 해준다고 답변을 받았다.

 - 다만 진단 과정에서 "배터리 성능 상태가 심각하게 저하" 된 것이 뜬다거나, iOS 11.3 및 이후 설정 > 배터리 > 배터리 성능 상태에 해당 메세지가 나오는 경우에는 빼박이기 때문에 바로 수리가 가능하다. (80% 미만 인듯)


 - 배터리의 진단 결과가 문제가 없더라고 요청을 하면 배터리 교체를 해준다. 나의 경우 배터리 성능 상태가 98%였다. 다만 이 경우에는 수리 기간이 앞의 빼박 교체의 경우 1~2시간 정도 걸리지만, 후자의 경우 24시간~7일 정도 필요하다고 가이드를 받았다.

- LCI 반응이란? : LCI(liquid contact indicator(액체 접촉 표시기)의 약자로

결론은 보증기간이 7일 남은 시점에서 배터리 교체는 괜찮은 선택으로 보여진다.

왜냐하면, 2018년 12월 31일 이후부터 배터리 교체 서비스 요금이 ₩ 59,000로 다시 인상되기 때문이다. 하지만 iPhone X의 서비스 요금은 ₩ 85,000으로 올라간다.

200사이클이 넘고 부터 앱의 지연이 느껴질 정도가 되었기 때문이다.

    기준: Nest app (iOS 12.1) 

    네스트 장비 자체는 내부적으로 UTC와 같은 고정된 시간을 이용하는 것 같다. 그렇게 생각한 이유는 계정의 위치를 변경하면 로컬 타임도 변경해서 보여주기 때문이다.

    문제는 로컬 시간을 계산을 할 때 시간대(Time zone)을 이용하여 계산을 해야 하는데 이것이 GMT+9가 아니면 불편하다.


    문제는 NEST가 공식적으로 지원하는 곳 중에 한국은 없다는 것이다. Asia중 중국과 러시아를 지원해서 Nest 계정을 만들 때 한국과 제일 가까운 산둥반도의 칭다오를 선택했다. 우편번호는 266000.

    서울에서 서쪽으로 200km 정도 떨어져 있으나 위도가 거의 비슷해서 온도는 비슷한 편.


    문제는 중국은 UTC+8를 사용한다. 한국보다 한시간 빠르다는 것.

    문제점을 인식했던 첫 번째는 Activity history였다. 

    - 앱: home 아이콘을 선택하면 Home과 Away만 보이는데, 이때 우측상단의 아이콘을 누르면 Activity history가 있다.

    보통 아내가 나보다 일찍 퇴근을 한다. 어제는 집에 일이 있어서 일찍 왔다고 하는데 오후 3시 40분에 귀가를 했다. 엄청 빨리 퇴근했다고 생각했는데 알고보니 중국 시간대로 맞춰져서 한 시간 빨리 표시되는 것이라 실제로는 4:40분에 했던 것.


    Activity history 만 그러면 상관없는데 문제는 Auto Schedule 한 시간 빨리 진행되어 버린다는 것!

    3일정도 학습이 되니 아래와 같이 평일과 주말의 난방 예정 포인트가 생겼다.

    아직 NEST의 오토 스케쥴 알고리즘이 어떤지 모르겠으나 08:15분에 난방을 줄이는 것으로 평일 8A 위에 점 5개가 생겼다.

    그런데 내가 월요일과 화요일 모두 9시쯤 away로 수동으로 설정했다.

    9시에 나가면 8시 15분에 온도를 낮춰도 무방하다고 판단해서 이 시간대에 예약이 걸렸는지는 두고 볼 일이다.


    러시아에 보면 야쿠츠크 시간대가 UTC+9를 사용하고 있다. 

    게다가 이 지역은 2014년부터 연중(써머타임을 쓰지 않고) UTC+9를 사용한다. 즉, 한국과 동일한 시간이다.


    야쿠츠크의 우편번호를 알기위해 찾아보니...

    677000, 677001, 677004, 677005, 677007 등을 사용하고 있다.


    문제는 위도가 한국보다 높다!!! (칭다오까지의 거리보다 10배 더 멀리 북쪽으로...)


    위도는 기온에 영향을 많이 미치는데 온도는 -35도. 눈도 오고 있다.



    야쿠츠크 시간대로 하자니 시간대는 맞지만 온도가 너무 차이가 나고, 청도(칭다오) 시간(어차피 중국은 베이징 시간대로 전 지역 동일)으로 하려니 온도는 비슷하나 시간대가 차이가 난다!


    그런데 Nest 기기의 펌웨어가 4.5.1이 되면서 지역시간을 가져오고 있다.

    기기 설치시 Location(위치)를 지정하는데, 서울의 우편번호로 설정이 되었다. 물론 나는 서울에 살지는 않는다.



    140-031이 어딘가 궁금해서 찾아보니(현재는 5자리 기초구역번호를 사용한다) 용산구 이촌동으로 나온다.


    혹시나 해서 Makelism님께 여쭈어보니

    '네스트 본체 - Settings - Location - Location'에서 Current Location을 선택하면 자동으로 주소 등록(구 우편번호 사용)이 되었던 것으로 기억하신다고 대답을 해주셨다.


    내 생각도 계정의 위치랑 Nest 본체의 위치 설정을 독립적으로 사용이 가능한 것으로 생각이 든다.


    그래서 시간대 표시를 위해 계정은 러시아 야쿠츠크로 해서 쓰는 것이 정신 건강상 좋을 것 같다는 생각이다.

    집에가서 Nest 본체에서 온도는 -35도인지 한국의 온도인지를 확인해보면 될 것 같다.


    그날 집에가서 확인해보니...

    생각과 달랐다.

    Far sight에 보니 실외 온도가 영하 34.5도 란다..


    혹시나 싶어서 Location을 보니,, 러시아로 되어 있었다. 야쿠츠크...


    그래서 맞는 온도로 사용하기 위해 재설정을 하였다.


    thermostat이 러시아에 있을리가 없지. NO 선택


    계정에는 지역만 있는데, thermostat에는 자동으로 설정해주는 기능도 있다.


    자동(Automatic)선택


    서울의 용산구 이촌동 어딘가.. 20여 km 떨어져 있지만 2000km 떨어져 있는 러시아보다는 온도가 더 잘 맞으리라 생각한다.

    실외 온도와 날짜도 현지시간이다!




    결론 및 추천

    처음 설치시에 현재 위치(Current Location)을 서울로 했었는데, 계정 정보 수정을 하니 Nest쪽에도 덮어씌어지는 것이었다.
    다시말해 오버라이딩(overriding)이 되는 것이다. 나중에 설정을 변경한 것이 우선..


    따라서 Nest를 설정할 때 다음과 같이 하는 것을 권장한다. (나중에는 어떻게 바뀔지 모르지만.)

    1. Nest 계정에서 Asia - Russia - Postcode: 677000 (Yakutsk)로 설정 : GMT+9로 하기 위한 설정.

    2. Nest 본체에서 Current Location으로 설정: Seoul


    이렇게 하면 Activity History와 온도를 GMT+9와 현재 서울의 온도로 사용 가능하다.

    결론부터 이야기하면 실패 했을 때 처리(예. 재처리)를 수행한다.


    금일 자동 채우기 D-day인데, 통장 잔고가 없어서 실패했다.

    혹시 입금을 하면 다시 채우기를 시도하는지 확인하려고 하여 잔고를 채웠다. at 08:07:43~44


    출근을 마치고 나니 50분 전에 채웠다고 한다. at 09:10:48


    재미있는 점은 11월에는 09:24:17에 채웠다는 점.

    자동 채우기 배치 돌리는 시간이 앞당겨졌다는 것인가?
